no run problem

Going to my day job yesterday my '88 BII started loosing power like it was running out of gas. Took my gas can to the station across the street, put two gallons in,and put this gas in the tank. No start. Went back, two more gallons, still no start. (I'm the one with the previous post of thinking I had a ten gallon tank. I drove my Bronc about 100 miles past empty and started thinking about a possible float problem on the sending unit.) Now the bee-ach won't start. Had the thing towed home and started looking for some obvious things. First thing I checked was the fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Not having a fuel pressure gauge to use I just took a metal pointed pick I have in my toolbox and opened the valve. Just a light bit of air-no quick burst of gas shooting out like normal. Hmmm...no fuel pressure. So what is the best way to check the intank and the frame fuel pumps? Think the tank pump is gone? Or maybe something else?
