Clicking sound when reving engine

Hi,

I have one question from Iceland :D

I have a 86 B2 4x4 on 33" tires. ;)

When reving the engine to about 2000 and higher rpm, I hear a clicking sound coming from under the car, I have been trying to locate the sound but I can't seem to find it, I was wondering if you guys had any idea.

I looked at the exhaust but it was pretty dark outside, I thought maybe it could be some heat sheald on the exhaust, possible?

Thanks,
Bergur

it sounds like the heat shield on your cat converter, mine was doing the same thing.

Well I went outside and checked it again and I don't have any heat shield on my exhaust system, and I can't see anything that could be making that sound. The sound is louder when I'm driving the car. My guess is that the sound is coming from the automatic trans or the engine oil pan.

Anyone? Please that sound is really making me :mad2:

Thanks,
Bergur from Iceland

Does it have a smog pump tube across the back of the heads? If so, there is a one way valve that the rubber hose clamps on that tends to rust out then creating a ehaust leak.

My 85' had that setup but I don't remember if the early 2.9's did.

Its your fuel pressure regulator. I've been told before " if its not clicking, its not working." Mine is louder when I'm driving with my windows down, kind of like what you said. It kind of sounds like an exaust leak, you can hear a clicking sound resenating off other cars as you pass them.
