Constant Velocity Joint problems (cv joint)

Post by BlueBronc »

Here's my setup:
1987 Bronco II 4WD
Chevy SB V8 283, Ford 5-Speed Manual (stock)

I pulled my rear drive train today and there is a chunk that cracked off of the cage that holds the bearings in place and the spring and cap inside the flange are all cracked up and shot.

I want to replace the CV Joint, and possibly the whole driveshaft (flange, etc), but I'm not sure where to start looking. Does anyone know a web-site or where to find out which Explorers, or Bronco II's are compatible with mine? Can I use a Cardan U-Joint with this setup and just replace the yoke?

Any help would be great.

Here's a picture of what my the drive shaft looks like:

those driveshafts are junk. IMO you should go and get the 3 u-joint setup. they call it a CV shaft also. you can order them from duff or go and look in the yards to make something work. buying it new from duff or another distributor usually cost around $230-$250 but it is worth everypenny
