Ok for the guys who took out their b2 coil buckets (upper) and used EB style what did you do for the drivers side. The frame isnt flat like it is on the passenger side. Did you fill it in with plate then mount the bucket? I am trying to figure out what to do....

When I used the F-150 buckets, I believe that the mounting surface was just beyond the angle in the frame to which you refer. It was a little tighter to weld though. In the pict I did tie in the steel plat for the track bar mount. I can tell you for my app. that the mount is to high and I am going to have to lower it. The track bar comes scary close to my steering box.

So in that pic, the indent in the frame is behind the plate and mount for your trackbar? So if thats the case your coil bucket is closer to the firewall? That would make the the wheelbase shorter then stock as the coil was originally set in the same spot as the indent!? Does that make any sense?

I think what he is getting at is to plate the whole outside of the frame then make your connection from there.

that is probably the way I would go about it. that or weld the bucket to the plate then bolt it to the frame so you don't create a place for the frame to tear from welding.

Well I plated the indent of the frame with 1/4" plate. I think that this is an overkill. I also plan on drilling holes through the plate and frame and sandwhich the whole thing together. Iam guessing that everything should be plenty strong.

I also know my welds look like crap (first time verticle welding) but they are really strong. You gotta love stick welders

My Axles and coil buckets are in the stock location. I didn't go with much lift and I didn't want to cut to much sheetmetal. I am trying to keep it street legal with function. My steel plate boxes in the bend in the frame to the coil perch. I notched the frame so that the bucket would square up where it needed to be and then I welded the bucket to the frame. They are F-150 buckets, Though I don't think there is much difference in design, The F-150's are taller over all.

as long as the weld penitrated then you should be fine. you can always clean it up with a grinder if it realy bothers you...

Im not worried about the strength. I just mainly wanted you guys to know I have been working on my junk, just not at the pace I want it to be.

well, at least you are working on it...my bronco has taken the back burner for the time being. I got my dart back and have been trying to get it up and running so I can start the body work...

I can't believe you actually worked on it. You guys better be done before I finish my next one.....and I thought I worked at a snails pace.

DBrown, you need to get the EB going. I'm have a blast cruising around with my family and the top and doors off.

In all seriousness, this has been the busiest year I have ever had by far.... The problem is, is that its not slowing down. Very frustrating.

Ok, so today I go out today to work on the front suspension and open my garage door (old solid pivoting type) and it springs off the track and breaks parts off. So instead of working on the B2, I spend almost 4 hrs fixing the door and then getting ready for work.

This is an example of what has been happening lately being so busy. It is neverending. :frown:
