Transmission Help

I am looking to buy an 86 B-II from an older gentleman for $300. He parked the rig behind his house after the city asked him to move it (tabs were expired and he rarely drove it). He drove it around behind his house and parked it several months ago.
It has a 4 spd. w/ OD, a 2.9 litre EFI and the "Touch Drive" 4X4. The battery was deader than anything I have ever seen. Once we were able to jump it, the engine ran great. I tried to engage the 4X4 and all I heard was clicking. Turns out it is electric and w/o manual hubs. That seems to be minor problem #1. Or major, I know nothing about B-II's and not much more about Transfer Cases and all that.
Bigger problem #2 is I put it in gear, let the clutch pedal out, then some more, then all the way. Nothing. Fluid was clear, full, and the reservoir was in good shape with no signs of leaking. Is it a matter of the clutch being burnt out, slave cyclinder gone or the TC not engaging (like being stuck in a neutral position?) This rig is in great shape, especially for $300 but the wife says if I can't drive it over here, no dice. Anybody have an idea of how much it should cost (roughly) to get a new clutch put in?
Any help, suggestions or ideas would be helpful. Thanks
