how to ID Dana 44, 60 and 9" axles

getting ready to start lookin for a solid front axle and a 9" rear for my 87 BII, just need some help figuring out how to identify a Dana 44 or Dana 60 front axle and a 9". any info would be great :redneck:

that is kind of an open ended question...

what width are you going?

if you are looking at an early bronco set of axles then they are all 9" and the way to tell the front is if it has ball joints.

on a rear, most ford full size trucks from the 70's are going to give you what you are looking for. if it is 5 lug then it is a 9" if it is 8 lug then you have a 60.

however on the front you can find a 8 lug D44

as for the 9"...if you find a removeable 3rd and it is out of a truck more then likely it is a 9", however the 8" has the same style of 3rd.
