I was wondering if anyone knew what years of trucks I can find a ford Np205 in? and how to tell it apart from other t-cases?

60's and 70s F250-F350 all have them. some of the 76-79 F150s can be found with them instead of a NP203. and you can tell its a 205 because it'll have a NP stamp on the back of it and its really big. it'll also have 4hi, 2hi, n, 4lo.
a 203 will be 4hi, 4hilock, n, 4low, 4lowlock

the 205 is much smaller than a 1356. It will fit in the frame rails of a RBV without any clearancing. The downsides are the weight and the crappy liow range. You can run a 208 that will just bearly fit if you shave a little off the edge and it will give you a 2.61:1 instead of a crappy 1.96:1 and half the weight. You will want a fixed yoke type not a slip yoke rear though.

there longer, prone to leak, and don't alow you to run the CV style driveshaft. if you are going to run a NP435 a 205 is not that bad, the low first gear helps.

Even with a 435, 17.37 to the diff is sooo much nicer than 13.09. With 4.56 gears your looking at 79.2 low compared to 59.69 low and 50 less pounds. All this will change when jb stops being ghey and makes a ford lomax. Ive been waiting for 2 years....
