Brake Help

When it's really cold my break pedal keeps sticking. I go to step on the brakes and it's like it is froze and then breaks loose. Not really been a big problem until last night. I stepped on the brakes and the pedal would not return. Not only would it not return, but I had to use both feet and pull very hard to get the brakes to release. Sounds dumb ehh?

Question is...master cylinder or booster or water leaking and icing something up. I cant find anything. My winshield does leak somewhere on the drivers side, but it has to be raining hard and it only drips a litle water on the floor mat. I'm confused. :hmmm:

I have the booster and Master from my 86 Ranger parts truck. Boosters are the same size hoever the masters are different. Anyone know if they will interchange?

Well that's a new one.

The first thing I would do is disconnect the brake peddle rod from the peddle and see if the peddle moves freely. It's super easy to disconnect, just make sure you pay attention to how the brake light switch is hooked up.

If that checks out, hook it back up and take the master cylinder loose from the vacuum booster. It won't leak any fluid. The lines should allow you to pull it back a couple inches. Then see if you can move the brake peddle freely. Be careful with the booster, it might shoot a spring out.

I don't see how the master cylinder could prevent the peddle from returning, as it's not physically linked.

I think there's a pretty good chance there's a problem with the booster.

I'm thinking it's the booster. It's only a year old but I have never been really sure it was working properly. It just always felt weird. It worked, but just felt weird. I have checked the break pedal and know it is free. Mabey next week I can get the booster off and inspect it. I am working aprox 100 hours this week so no time to go further. (BTW salry sux :puke: )

Maybe time for that Hydroboost upgrade.
