right, you can jump it with a screwdriver. go from the + post on the solenoid to the small post with the push on plug or right to the starter wire on the solenoid.

yeah but i am pretty stumped on that, i even got another brain for it and that didnt help anything either so i am thinking it might have something to do with the distributor or something in the ignition

just found this
--------------------------------
The fuel injectors have power everytime the key is turned on. The PCM grounds the fuel injectors to complete the circuit. If the pcm does not have a signal from the pickup inside the distributor the injectors will not fire. The signl is sent from the pickup to the ignition module from the ignition module it goes to the pcm. Do you have spark? If you have spark the pick up is probably ok, but the module is not sending the signal to the pcm. If you don't have spark it could be either the pickup or the module. As a rule of thumb I replace both at the same time. You need to pull the distributor you may as well only do it once.

in that it says that if you have spark then its not the pickup but its the module, is it the powertrain control module that they are talking about?

the module is on the side of the distribute. the pickup is inside

so my best bet would be to change the entire distributor
