will that hold the weight ok? those 36's get heavy.
I am still thinking about where I want to put mine. I thought about in the bed but it might be hard to get it down if I need it. then I thought about putting it on top of the bed but I don't want to kill my rear view, and I think it might be worse if I mounted it in the stock location. are you planning on lowering it a little to give you more view when you look out the rear?

It's should hold up fine. I read about a few spindles breaking, but I think that was more from poor design or abuse.

I plan on mounting the tire high for clearance, although I was considering the possibility of making the height adjustable.

nice design . alot of good info here but i just wanted to know what is so bad about the factory swing tire mount ? i know the fibergalss door suck's but a nice ranger tailgate would fix that problem. just wondering becuz im planning on putting a ranger tailgate on just picked one up from Rock's friend. i was gonna use the factory swing tire mount it seem's to hold up well.

I don't think the factory tire carrier would have held up very well to a 36.

One of my biggest complaints was how much it rattled. My new one is going to strong and quiet. I'll also get tire placement where I want it.
