Yea. 58 was the transition. Had the rectangle window, high mounted turn signals, and the new dash. But still had the snowflake tail lights and the bat wing steering wheel.

Well, didn't have a chance for the change out in drive trains this summer, so the '84 will have to go through another winter with the 2.8/c5 and there's always next year. Been working on the rest of the 'ol farmstead and picked up a 2003 "Splash" for daily driving. Traded bikes and tractors and have been working on them. Traded out my Kaw KLR650 for a retired (from my town) Kaw Police 1000 Interceptor which only had 11000 miles on it. Had to do some minor mechanic and asthetic work to it. Swapped out my 'ol Farmall H (1949) for a "new" Farmall 300 (1955) and have it still torn down and painting it. Taking the paint down to steel on it. Have to get it back together before the snow flies so I can put the loader back on to move snow with. Second daughter married off early summer and with the floods and everthing, this has been quite the quick year so far. Used to cycle 7K miles/year and was a cycle mechanic, rode some with Gregg LeMond.. That was when I lived in Washington state. Been working in computing and electronics since '82. 20 year Navy Vet . Living in Eastern Iowa now...

What part of Worshington did you live in? What kind of electronics did ya work at?

I been working in electronics since about 1976. specialized in Airborne Weather Radar. Worked for a company south of Seattle from 80 to 02. It would be funny if we worked together.. Oh Well..

Thing is, I always wanted a Splash, but the legroom wasn't enough to be comfortable. In 2001 they added about 3" to the back of the cab. I found this on a dealer's lot and it only had 9500 miles on it. It had been there almost a year 'cuz nobody wanted a stick. Exactly what I was looking for with the bonus mileage of 31-33 mpg, so when you commute 140 miles/day it helps tremendously. Basically a new 5 year old pickup. In the winter I commute with the BII.

I lived in the Bremerton/Silverdale area, right close to the Kitsap County fairgrounds for about 7 years. I was in the Navy from 1978 to 1998. Was an Electronics Tech and worked on everything from Satellite and launch systems to communications, alarm systems and then into fibre optics and micro electronic (NASA) repair work. In '82 I was responsible for the initial outfitting of PCs to the carrier Constellation and these days IT work (computers) pays the bills, so that's what I do for a living.

This truly is a small world we live in. I have never lived across the water. The interesting thing is my Son In Law is an IT specialist and administrator on board the USS John C Stennis Aircraft Carrier and lives in Bremerton.

Yeah I was curious about your washington background because I used to hire a lot of Ex Navy people to work Avionics for me at The Big Red H.

BTW: I like the splash. I always thought the ranger looked it's best as a step side bed..
