i seen in a Jegs book a few weeks ago a set of shorty headers for a 2.9 v6 for the broncoII but it says >>>>manual only>>>> something about linkage for auto gets in way, but they are supposed to bolt straight to the stock y pipe ........ heres a link for them it should work....

http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/s ... 9_-1_11271

middle of page, i think it will show two different sets one for the 2 wheel drive and one for the 4x4........ :redneck:

hope that helps....... personally i havnt seen a listing for 2.9 v6 stock manifolds anywhere, and i was looking for a set before i did my engine swap to the 4.0 L but i did come across those headers

oops sorry that only states the years of 88 - 89 and does not say 87 so might not work on the 87 i am unsure but it might be worth looking at though

Yeah, I'm a little lost about what's different about '87 and '88 heads. Something major, like the angle the ports exit the casting? Where the '87 manifolds MUST be used with the heads? Or what?

My motor i'm rebuilding is a '87 but I'm putting in my '88 BII 4WD.

Sooo, between '87 and '88, is there really some difference in the heads where I can't stick my '88 y-pipe on the '87 manifolds?

I mean thats what I plan to try. If that works, then I can't see why buying a header set for a '88 wouldn't either.

Hey there, Mr Bower100

What ever happened to this thread? Was the Motor a success?
