A/C Retrofit

Post by jtrask »

What's involved in retrofiting an A/C system to 134A?
How long does it take?
Do any parts need to be replaced?
What's the ball park cost?

Thanks!

Actual changeover to R143a is kinda pricey. I used a conversion for mine that you can buy at any automotive store. I was told that due to possible mixing of r-12 and r-134a that I would get black death coming out of the system. I ran it for 4 yrs and did not have any problem at all. When it was drained for the 5.0 swap there wasnt anything but r-134a coming out. Nothing black or strange.
