possible overheating???

my b2 seems kind of hot when im indside by the floor boards and tranny i think part of the reason may be because of the 2 inch whole from a rock hitting the muffler any ideas on what could be wrong or is it just overheatin?

The muffler is right underneath the passenger seat, so if there is a leak in the cat or muff, it would make the floor pretty warm. its not likely that overheating would make the cab hot. If you have an auto tranny, it could be that the fluid in it is hot, and if it is overheating, then your tranny would be warm, and make the floorboards warm.

yah it seems like it doin that and the shift leaver gets kinda hot!

where is the hole in your muff or cat, and do you have a stick shift or auto. That might help narrow it down. Does your temperature gauge read in the normal zone, it will usually tell you if the truck is gonna boil over.

the hole is in the muffler and it is a stick and the tempeture gauge is normal

I have completely removed the exhaust system on my BII from the second cat all the way back, so no muffler or anything behind it, and my passenger compartment is about as comfortable as it could be in an Oklahoma summer (I do have good a/c), not really that hot, so if the stick is getting hot, most likely the gear oil in the trans is not lubricating, or already has experienced thermal breakdown, and your trans is getting hot because of it, or you have a leak in the y-pipe between the cats and the exhaust manifolds. Look for other exhaust leaks, including leaks at the joints of the y-pipe to the manifolds, and check your transmission oil, or change it (couldn't hurt anyway, they need all the care they can get, or they won't live very long). Sorry it took me a week to reply.

if you put larger tires on the truck and didn't regear the truck it will cause the tranny to get hot and make the floors feel warm. my 86 did it...

i would check the tranny fluid and change it if needed. also check your tranny cooler/ lines to make sure there not blocked by anything..
