valve sticking

Post by Rockcrawler »

One of my valves is sticking after i drive for about 20 min and the truck will start ticking like crazy and it will go away sometimes when i rev it up. I think some debry might be getting stuck in the hydrolic lifter. So im thinking about putting some atf in the oil to clean it out and change the oil again. i just put some synthetic crap in there and it looks pretty fresh still but the old oil was pretty dirty. any help would be great.

Those 2.9L's are notorious for that. Seems I remember something about a recall???? I think they pretty much need to be replaced. Do you have good oil pressure? What wieght oil do you run? Maybe something a little heavier will help....20/50?
