body lift kit advice

Post by bartmantom »

would a 2 inch body lift create enough room in the engine compartment and tranny tunnel for a 302 C4 swap? or should I go for 3 inch? would rather have most of my lift in the suspension than in the body but I also want plenty of room for the engine and tranny.

I did the 3". Lot's of room.
I have seen a 2wd Ranger with a 351, so, with enough cutting, anythings possible.
Stay off the pipe, don't forget to wipe.

3" gives you more room. I did mine first with a 2" and then put a 3" on to see if I could move the engine back a bit more. Alot depends on what motor mounts and radiator fan set up you use and how much you are prepared to mod your firewall. If you have the rag joint in the steering column you might get some feed back of binding in the steering wheel with the 3". I did. And have talked to others that did also. Not really a big deal. Just keep an eye on the rag joint or replace it with a u-joint.
