That's got my vote. Having grown up as a farmer in the midwest during the late 70's and 80's and seeing how a lot of farmers got shafted. Maybe that would bring some value and respect back to farming.
Can't think of anything witty, intelligent, or cool to say...guess I'm just stupid.

Your totally wrong. I have one, and my parent's neighbor has one as well. It is true that they wern't called TDI's but that is just because VW hadn't come up with that catchy name yet.
That is the factory service manual for VWs from 77 to 84 and it clearly states "turbo diesel" in the title. Click the picture for a bigger version if you aren't sure.

You were getting about 10 MPG that day towing when I was getting around 16 but that was when gas was 2.40 a gal and diesel was 2.85 a gal and I still owned a Powerstroke. Maintenance costs on a diesel are not any more money with the exception of the fact that they hold a bunch of oil.
Matt, keep in mind if you go with a bio it's not going to be cheap for long. As soon as someone (oil Co.) starts buying the used oil from the restaurants they won't be giving it to you anymore and you are just stuck with paying someone.
Ranger 5.o, needing another project like Rosie O'Donnell needs another M&M.
The manual says "and turbo diesels" which weren't that common then. All the ones i have dealt with were naturally aspirated. I suppose the jetta's they would be more common in. I hung out with a rabbit and schirrocco crowd.
EBSteve just likes to watch me break things.:-)
420HP and 775Ft lbs Now it is time to break things.

Yea the TD only came in Jettas and the trucks so far as I know so it would make sense that you hadn't seen them before. If you want to come check one out, I am in Bellingham right near the WWU campus.
