FYI V8 Conversion Power steering pump
FYI V8 Conversion Power steering pump
So, I guess this belongs in the Tech section.
FYI. After looking forever for the stupid Power Steering bracket that the "professional" adapter companies say that you need (and is no longer being made).
My stock BII bolted right up with a little modification. About $2.94 worth. I didn't even have to drill any holes and it feels real sturdy.
I just ran some 5 1/2" bolt to space it to the V8 pulley.
Power steering pump from junkyard - $50
Bracket from e-bay - $22 and 2 weeks searching
Taking a second look before buying crap...
BRILLIANT!
...realizing that you just bent the pulley on the right pump and that you have to go rent a puller and finish it tomorrow... sucks.
Actually, it was the senial old man again...
Anyone want pictures of the mod, let me know. I finally got a digital camera.

Gee, that only took me all day to post. Anyways, you can see how I just bolted the original bracket onto the block and the bolt holes lined right up. I am going to cut the top off, but if you don't like this setup, it works two ways.
It's hard to explain, but the other hole in the block lines up perfect with the first and second hole instead of using the 2nd and 3rd like I did.
Either way, just get two 5&1/2 inch 3/8 bolts and two 4&1/2 inch spacers (I used some plumbing pipe)

Looks like a good plan but I think you might need another bar from the middle of the top of the bracket to the Intake or the head. You have it spaced out pretty far and there is only two bolts holding it. I believe once you tighten the belt and put load on it the pump will want to twist towards the front of the rig possibly jumping belts.
Just a thought.

EBSteve just likes to watch me break things.:-)
420HP and 775Ft lbs Now it is time to break things.

...yeah...
Good call... I didn't think about that. There is still another bolt hole under the valve cover that will work perfectly. You can see it in the pic. The problem is that it kind of matches up to the adjustment bolt on the PS bracket. I think I can make it work though.
It doesn't look like it, but it is suprisingly sturdy with just the two.
Cutting the top should take off a pound or two also.
An ounce of prevention...
Good advice, thanks.

HELP
So, it's all on and I hooked up the belt. Started up the engine and the steering wheel turned possessed and jerked out of my hands. It kept turning left until it jammed out and started smoking from the buckle. Which was about 7-8 seconds.
I have heard of air in the lines, but jesus!
I took off the belt and the hoses and it will still won't turn straight
