V8 Carb leak

Post by TC »

Motocraft 2 bbl.
Pours out gas around the top when I start it up. Bad gasket? or possibly too much fuel pressure from my new bad-ass fuel pump? It was carburated before.
Anyone know how much pressure is the right amount?

A stock mechanical pump puts out 6-8 psi. So if ya put on an electric one you may need a regulator.
EBSteve just likes to watch me break things.:-)

Yeah that doesn't sound good. Make sure you don't catch on FIRE!

It could be a stuck float, or just too high pressure.

Mechanical 6-8 psi
auto pump 12 psi
= fuel overflow

$25 for a regulator

I talked to a race car guy, he said to turn the regulator down as much as possible until it chokes itself out, then go up one notch.

...just in case anyone cares
