3.8 in a Bronco ?

Post by mccutcheon4 »

I have a friend that has two middle 90s Turdbird Super Coupes, I was at his place this past weekend. He was putting the 3.8 back in one of them while I was there. Those motors are pretty slick, they have aluminum heads, roller cams, forged pistons, Eaton super charger and innercooler.
They also have a standard SB Ford six bolt bell housing pattern. They must be fairly light, sporting the aluminum heads. My buddy told me that they make 300 HP+ with minor tweeking. He said he never gets less than 20 MPGs even if he beats it. I rode in it, and the boat scoots, no lag.
He said, once he went to the ARP studs instead of the stretch style head bolts, all of his blown head gasket problems went away. He also said that they have a bullit proof bottom end.

Its probably not worth the trouble, supercharged 3.8 & 435 NP ?
It would keep things lighter than a 302.

I was concidering using Megasquirts EFI controller for this swap.

Dream on Beaver.

I would make sure that you could get a flywheel and clutch assembly that would work with the 435. If you can the skies the limit.

5.0, My son and I found a full size 1980 to about 1984 Bronco today, what transfercase did they use ? Its the married style behind a C6. Can it be used with a 435 ? I have a 435 on a small block Ford bell housing, that's why I ask.

Sorry if this sounds ignorant, I am very new to 4X4 applications.

Thanks

It is probably a 208 t-case. Does it have an aluminum housing?? You will need to fing an adapter for it to mate to you trans. Some of the other guys on the board say that they are to big to fit in the BII frame.I would try to finda 205 for the 435, I think that is a more common mating and a better t-case in my opinion for trails.
