A/C compressor

Post by drewski15 »

does anyone know what years and models would have an A/C compressor that would fit my 84 bronco II with the 2.8 Liter V-6. I want to use it as an air compressor to fill my 2 gallon tank.

Look for the many years of V-6 pintos, mudstains, and Crapi's made in the early 70's to the year of your BII. They changed in design from piston style to the rotary style but they will all pump air.

You can stuff a York on a 2.9 easy, I am not familiar with the 2.8 so I am not sure about that.
Here are a few pics of a York on a 2.9, the install took about an hour

No write up, it's a friends and I threw it on one day when he was here. I can maybe get him to take some better pictures but it's easy, just some angle and a pump.

The earlier 2.8's came with yorks. The 2.9 never came with a york. EBsteve fabbed that one in. I got mine out of a 77' Crapi and it comes with the factory mounts that bolt on to your 2.8. The 2.9 one will fit a 2.8 but it is not the desirable style most people like to use.

I want the pump, but the brackets are off of a 77' 2.8 crapi. I am willing to part with it. It mounts above the engine like EBsteves design.
