Duraspark conv???
Duraspark conv???
I have an 84 bronco II and my distributor is all #$^%ed up and I've been readin about the duraspark conv. I was wondering how involved it is to change it over. I know i'll need the distributor and carb, but will the stock coil work because my friend has an msd coil like the original and i want to wire it in with the conv. also, where can i find a carb and dist. and whatever else i'll need?? thanx guys!!
Well you can buy the stuff new. I'm not sure which applications you use for parts though. I'd recommend just going to the junkyard so you can get the harness and stuff.
Overall it's a very easy swap. It will pretty much plug right in to your harness. Hardest part is dropping the new dizzy in the right spot...and that's not hard.
Yes you can use your stock TFI coil...in fact, you want to. They are very good coils, and there's no need for the MSD.

You can use the stock carb also. Just plug the vacuum ports you don't need and reset the idle mixture screws. That way you can save the electrc choke. I really didn't see much advantage to changing the carbs except for the fact of all the plugging of ports. I did enjoy the duraspark until the distributor died and I switched to the Unilite. Then there was a major difference in peformance.(no rev limiter) And all the time I used the TFI coil.
