Flooding carb or bad tranny?
I bought rebuilt 2150 for DS conversion.
It idles and accelarates okay when station, but if I start driving, as soon as I accelerate- engine dies. It's hard to restart after that and it acts like works on couple cylinders. After couple minutes starts again. Plugs are fouled now.
Any ideas?

I don't, but I don't think it would matter anyway as they are all a little different.
The PCV hose needs to be hooked up to the large port at the base of the carb. It must also have a good PCV valve at the valve cover.
Plug all the other ports with real plugs...not a piece of hose and a screw.
Make sure the EGR valve vacuum is disconnected.

Are you talking about big EGR valve in front of the carb? I put a plate in between and plugged little port on the valve.
I have a new PCV valve, but here is where I scewed up. There is no big port for PCV like I had on the feedback carb (there is a plugged hole in there- I can drill it out probably). So I hooked PCV to the little port in the back of the new one- mistake? Also, my choke has a port for hot air- I have to plug it too, it was sucking air probably.

Hey, my 79 F250 did this, it had DS and a 2bbl. It would start and run on like 2 or 3 cylinders, and would not throttle. Screwed the plugs, so I replaced them and adjusted the carb to no avail. Try replacing the Duraspark ignition box (big silver box), on original DS vehichles, it mounted on the drivers side of the engine compartment (at least it did on my F250). That worked for me. Try that first to save yourself a lot of time and money, the box is prolly like a couple bucks at a yard.

I tested a pumd- disconnected fuel line at the filter and cranked the engine- it's pumping okay, but you are right- it might slow down under load. But fouled spark plugs tell me it's flooding- so either it's a carb or maybe it's a bad ign. module (new). Problem is- I have to clean my garage and house by the next week. Truck is not inspected, so I can't leave it on the street until better days.
