Put a new clutch in my 89. (see previous post).
My problem- the pilot bearing for the flywheel that came with the kit is too big. All the parts houses around here are stumped, and say that is the correct one. The iron collar and the needle rollers are too big. I have the Ford number and ordered one from them, it should be here tomorrow. Any ideas if this is the wrong one when it comes in? All my literature indicates that for 88 and later the pilot bearing goes in the flywheel, not the crank as 87 and older. There was nothing left of the old bearing to get a number off of.
Any ideas? Any numbers?
thanks!
The old bearing was in the flywheel, or at least the outer shell. The machine shop drove it out when they surfaced the flywheel. But the one with the kit that goes in the flywheel is to big. Just to make sure, I mocked up the flywheel, pressure plate and input shaft, and the input is to short to reach the crank. Anybody have a part number? Ford says the bearing is on national back order.
