Man, nice fish! I have gotta get back to the river this week...will be the first time I have gotten to go in a year and the weather is supposed to be around 60 all week!
Mainly largemouth bass, catfish, and here in TN I go for rainbow and brown trout in the tailwaters below several of the TVA Dams. A few summers ago I had the chance to go to Alaska for salmon, now that was a memory of a lifetime. Looks like that is something you get to do on a regular basis there, Matt. Lucky you! And to take the BII off road to get there, now that's icing on the cake.
That's AWSOME!!! I just talked to my brother last Sat. about going trout fishing again this summer. We have always gone to SW Misouri near Table Rock Lake for Rainbow trout.

For those that don't know, a Steelhead is a sea-run rainbow trout. Unlike salmon, which go up river, spawn and die; Steelhead spawn and go back out to sea many times.
My great uncle lived up near Ankerage AK. He invited me up many times to go Salmon fishin but I never made it up there before he died. Once again, I am jealous of you Matt. I did not know that about Steelhead. Never too old to learn. Are dolly varden good to eat?

Dolly's are kind of oily. They also count toward your 2 fish daily limit, so most folks don't keep them. We'd rather have steelhead. I'd have to check the regs again, but I think the natives have to be released anyway, which the one pictured above is native, and I let it go.
