I run a Delco 1 wire alt on my 302. The alt was not originally a 1 wire but I took it to a shop and the guy made it a 1 wire. The alt was originally off a Caddy...I think. I used the mount from an 83 Econoline van and modded it to fit the Delco.

What do you hope to gain by converting to a different alt?

Dead alternator is a dead alternator. 1 wire or 20, it's still dead.
I'd just slap another crown vic alternator in and be done with it. I can pick them up all day long at the junkyard for pennies on the dollar.
