Bronco ii '88 runs poorly no speed
Bronco ii '88 runs poorly no speed
Hi so I have my 88 bronco and we just replace the transmission and it's been running poorly. I press the gas and it seems like no gas is reaching the engine and when I'm just sitting at a light the rpms drop really low and the car shuts off. Any ideas???

Yeah, Pull the engine codes, and get your manual out, and get ready to troubleshoot.
Do you have any tools?
Do you have any diagnostic equipment available?
Answer those questions and get back to me.

I bought this used and I don't have a Manual or a code reader. Can I Buy one like at autozone or something?
Re: Bronco ii '88 runs poorly no speed
I got the error code O095 I guess it has to do with the fuel secondary circuit.
Re: Bronco ii '88 runs poorly no speed
When is the last time you have replaced the fuel filter?

Well from what I could read from my old notes says that test is looking for a good ground on the fuel pump. it says the ground is open or the fuel pump is running continuously. Is the engine running real rich? Like puffin black smoke out the tailpipe?
You will need to look at the fuel pressure. Check to see if it is too high or maybe too low. you need a fuel pressure test gauge to check it..
Your fuel pressure regulator is located on the rear portion of the intake. Pull the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator and check for signs of fuel in the vacuum port side of the regulator. If you have fuel there get a new fuel pressure regulator. if it is dry it could still be bad. so check the pressure..
Try that and let me know what ya find.

Something that just came to me was you said ya just replaced the trans. Is there a possibility that during the trans swap somehow one or both fuel lines could have got snagged of mashed anywhere?

I took it to a mechanic and they fixed it. I guess the carburator was off and some lines or wires on the trams got mixed up. 75$ later everything works good
Re: Bronco ii '88 runs poorly no speed
Wow, Carb. 88 came fuel injected. $75 is a cheap fix in my book
