88 B2 2.9L EFI 4x4 problem (fuel system)

Ok, I changed fuel filter and the low pressure fuel pump, truck ran fine for about 2 months and then just quit. brought it back home and then sometimes it would run great, i would let it run for about 5 min then turn it off and go to start it again and it would not start. sometimes it would start and just be real sluggish, like it was running on 4 cylinders. This last time I pulled the air intake and sprayed some either and it starts right up and if i worked the gas pedal really fast in short strokes it would stay running, rough but it would run.
I rented a fuel system pressure gauge thinking it was the fuel preassure regulator and it was within tolerance, I think 60 and then drops to 45 I cant remember but it was what the book said it should do. Now I'm lost on what it could be.

I would look at the distributor internal module or possible a bad TFI block.
