Fuel system problem? 89 b2 4wd

Post by bobcat07 »

My 89 B2 has been having problems when I accelerate. It acts like its not getting gas if its running below 2.5 rpm, but runs great if I floor it. Also runs fine if I have a full tank or pretty full. I have tried a fuel injector cleaner and don't think it helped any. Its all stock engine and going tomorrow to have it hooked up to a code reader. My dad suggested that it might be water in the gas tank and that I could try putting rubbing alcohol in the gas tank next time I fill up to evaporate whatever water might be sitting on top of the gas, but not sure if that is such a good idea? Anyone else have a problem like this? Sorry for the really long post, just wanted to give as much info on it that I could. Thanks!

I have a 84 bronco II 2.8l. I don't know if its much help but I had a simular problem and I had to drop my tank because my fuel tank was full of junk from my tank breaking down. The coating inside just got so old the gas was eating it away. Also I changed my fuel fiters and was good as new. So I hope I helped alittle.
