brakes

Post by somedude »

I am about to maybe buy an "87" bronco 2. The brakes seem to be locked up. the truck will roll but there is a drag to it. Can the emergency brake be causing this? Do yall think spraying the brakes with cleaner and a bump with a hammer might free them up. it has been sitting up about 2 months. thanks for yall's time! <>< del

Unless you are going to replace the brake linings I would say NO NO NO spray anything on brake friction shoes or pads. Loosen the ebrake cable and back off the adjusters on the rear brakes then you should be able to knock the drums loose.

I am starting to believe it is not the break after all. I don't think the slave cylinder was bled correctly. I am getting it tomorrow so I will give an update then. thanks

The drag you feel may be the front axle engaged, maybe different ratio between front to rear! Make sure transfer case is in 2 hi. Then try to move it.
