fuel issue... help please

Post by kevindakota00 »

OK. I am working on a friends 88 bronco 2. I am inexperienced with this vehicle. The vehicle does not run, he said somebody put something in his gas. I disconected the line to the regulator and got no gas. I hotwired the fuel pump relay to get it to run constanly. I replaced his 2 fuel filters. If i disconect the line prior to the high pressure pump i get a steady trickle of gas. I disconect the line after the h.p. pump i get nothing. So i replaced the high pressure pump and i get VERY little gas still after the high pressure pump. If i disconect the line prior to the first filter i get a decent gush of fuel. i blew out the lines with air to make sure they are not clogged and they seem fine. :wtf: First off i have never seen a vehicle with two fuel pumps, but why isn't the high pressure pump blowing fuel 15 feet? any ideas are appreciated! please help advise

ok. it got suggested to me to swap the in-tank pump to a '89 + so it is the high pressure pump. Then run a fuel line through a filter and directly to the fuel rail. My question is will the pump install into the gas tank. I can make the wiring match. does anyone see a problem with this?

sounds like a lot of unnecessary work to me. change the pump and call it good.
