.302 with 4 barell carb not idleing at all only hot

Post by streeterstyle »

hi, my 85 b2 was sitting for a bit more than 6 months awaiting a tranny rebuild on a c-4. after it was completed i drove it about 50 miles around town until one day it wouldnt idle after starting it. i used some carb cleaner and it worked for one day but now it dosent work at all. in fact it barly idles when warmed up and when i spray carb cleaner it idles better for a second or two after each squirt. its a .302 with a four barell carb. what is the problem???

You have a vacuum leak somwhere near the carb, possibly a hose. When you spray the carb cleaner it will idle better and smoother indicates a leak. And you possibly could have some water in your fuel system, or carb. Take it out, and take it apart, and clean it, and blow it out with some compressed air, being careful not to lose any parts.
