push button 4x4 change to a switch?

is it possible for me to yank out that stupid push button and change it to a couple of toggle switches? i cant think of any reson why not but if anybody can then please help me out. i did a bit of wheeling today and gave my clutch a bit of a workout because i could not get 4L. then i smacked the buttons a few times and it worked again, so i belive it is just a bad connection at the bottons.

i just need to know if it would have to be a momentary switch. i think it does
