I want to check the timing chain deflection while I'm in there. I'll be able to order everything at once then.

Today I got the clutch hooked up. I used a 5/16 - 3/8 compression fitting. It wasn't a good feeling cutting into a brand new clutch line, but it had to be done. I also pulled the crank pulley. I couldn't find the puller's for the balancer. They are deep within the garage. I'll dig them out tomorrow.

I'm putting a list together of what I need to order and I really want some stainless arp bolts for the timing cover and water pump so I don't have to go through this again. Now I mostly have 12pt sockets in the garage so I was leaning towards the 12pt bolt heads. What are your thoughts? I would prefer studs but I only saw them for the 351.

Sounds good. I have one in the cover and one in the block. The one in the block I'm going to try and weld a nut to it and turn it out after spraying it up real good with some pb blaster.

if theres enough of the bolt sticking out of the block, WACK IT with a hammer to shock it and try vice grips first

I got both the broken bolts out successfully. I tried vice grips after smacking it with a hammer and failed so I moved onto the welder. They came right out. I imagine the combination of PB blaster and heat helped out. It feels good knowing that it is being done right. Now I can't kick myself in the ass later. Thank you Ranger Dave. I ordered a fel-pro gasket set, but do I reuse the old oil pan gasket? I'm not sure what to do there. The timing chain deflection was less than a half inch, so that's good. I've been looking all over the internet and there is a huge argument over using RTV on gaskets vs. just using the gasket. I always used the RTV with them, but I really don't want any leaks. Just looking for some input. I also removed all of the old fuel injected fuel lines, pump, etc. I reused the wiring from the old pump and wired it into my new pump. I completed my clutch installation today. I just welded the pad on the actual lever part. I'll have to get a picture of it. The pedal is real stiff. My leg actually got tired after a few pumps on it. That's all I can think of right now. I'm on hold until the pump and gaskets get here.

the kit comes with everything.just like whats in the pic. just use some permatex in the corners. NEVER put permatex on a rubber/cork gasket. it makes it slippery and when you tighten the bolts the gasket squishes out to much

Thanks for the tip. Everything should be here Tuesday. So next weekend I'll clean it up and throw it back together.

Got a quick question. My block has the spider or girdle or whatever for the lifters. Does this mean my block is roller ready? If I get roller lifters I would need rods and a cam for rollers too right? If I would get a larger cam I would need to check to see if my pistons have valve releifs correct? I don't plan on doing this yet, but I'm just wondering. Also if I get a cam and my block is roller capable is there anything special about the different firing order or should I just keep the stock firing order?
