Hot wire draining battery
I have a 1985 bronco II that keeps draining the battery. I have taking out all of the fuses and their is still a hot wire somewhere. Please guys help me out with some suggestions of what it could be. I had a new starter put in also.

Re: Hot wire draining battery
Assuming your audio an all lighting is wire correctly, most of the time it's a diode in the DC charging Alt. To check that circuit w/o meters, unhook the battery ground, then disconnect the large wire to the Alt, then reinstall the battery ground, and wait over night.
There will always be a very small drain on the battery if the unit has a computer. Most that have a computer have two circuits, to it. One is a keep alive, which keeps any program other than base in memory. The other is the main power to the computer that is not powered up until the key is turned to run. Should the main power relay fail closed, this will run the battery down as well.
I don't know the Burden (ie, amp draw) specs for your truck. That said, if your sure the battery is fully charged, an good, it will be dead within two days or less from the Alt, and about 3-5 days from the main computer curcuit.
Hope this helps,
