fuel hose leaks when fueling

Post by oneway »

Does anyone have any quick fix for this? When I am gasing up, after about $20 worth of gas, the tube or rubber hose that runs from the gas cap to the tank is saturated with fuel and leaks. When I fill it up all the way, fuel pours out once it reaches where the tube is clamped to the fuel tank.

Is that a simply rubber hose that can be replaced or is it a special kind of hose? It appears to be rubber that has just gotten really old over time and there are 2 screw clamps...the cirlce ones that get tighter the more you turn the screw - it's just one of those on each end. Is it a part I can buy and replace without removing the rear wheel?

You should be able to just be able to loosen the clamps and pull the hose out. It will be easier though if you open the gas door and take those 3 screws out you can wait to take the top clamp off til u get it out of there. Once you get the new piece use some vasaline or sometype of lubricate and the hose should slide right on.. A little prying with a screw driver may be needed to remove the old filler neck.. (hose)
