sputters, but cant find answer

Post by dub2bronco2 »

87 broncoII, been on here checking what everyone has said the problem is.
i have changed the in tank pump, high press pump, map sensor, TFI, pcv, rotor, cap, plugs, wires, have spark.
the car will start up with no problem, run for awhile, until the throttle is pushed. will start to sputter, and sometimes no response while holding pedal, but on the release it will rev. i found that i had about 35 psi in line, but when it stalls, there is no pressure in rail. any suggestions?

Take this with a grain of salt and cross check it with what others say, but you might want to try and clean the throttle body and/or run some "seafoam" thru a vacuum line and in the gas tank (supposed to clean the injectors when placed in the tank. A bottle is around $7-9 bucks depending on where you buy it. I recently did it to mine and the response has improved a good bit.

yea thanks, i actually changed both fuel filters tonight, even though one was said to be done already. i pulled the rear one off, and there was no filter in there what soever. so put filter on there, and disconnected battery for few minutes, and problem seems to be better. doesnt stall, but now has rough idle and minor hesitation so atleast i am moving forward

i would also check your timing too, even the slightest hair off on timing could cause that

back to same problem. timing is set correctly. sputters/hesitates terribly when it warms up. while cold, can rev right to redline, as soon as it starts to get warm, put pedal to floor, and it sputters at like 2000rpm
