rough idle, dies sometimes?

i just replaced the automatic tranny
supposedly the guy i bought it from had the 2.9 rebuilt and it sounds and runs good but when i am driving it, i have an even pressure on the gas pedal then the rpm's just drop and it takes a little time for it to clear up and stop puttering and it will drive ok but it does it in park neutral and drive. i was wondering if it could just be the fuel filter i will check that today. but i was also thinking it could be the throttle position sensor. thanks

Have you scanned the computer for codes?

i checked the tp sensor and it checks out
now i am going to check the pcm see if it is getting the correct amount of voltage with the ignition on.
i need answers
