problem with my auto locking hubs?

Post by nrandell »

I was replacing brake pads and thought I'd inspect the hub. I pulled it off and it looks like everything but the cam assembly came off with it. Is this a problem? I'm attaching a pic. Thanks.

Its hard to tell with all the grease on the stubshaft, but it looks as it should for me (I have been up driving from Cali to Utah, so I could be wrong).

what you have is automatic locking hubs........if you have a local autozone they will be able to print you out a complete how-to illustration on dissasembly and re-assembly(i should know i work there).......its a fairly simple thing to do, i had to take it apart when i changed out the wheel bearings and seal......
my bronco 2 is a work in progress........

I used to have auto locking hubs, but they didnt work right so I converted them to manual locking hubs and now my 4 wheel actually works. But if your 4 wheel actually works then I would just leave them alone. Even though its not that hard to put manual locking hubs on. Those seem to be ok.
