my question is, what is the electronic plug/input located on the back of the differential?
what is it for? temp?

do you have push button 4wd?
also what year B2 is this?

Re: the 8.8 axle
on second thought its probably a low diff fluid sensor. my '88 b2 came with just a stopper where your sensor is. unplug it and see if any warning lights come on.

Re: the 8.8 axle
i got the 8.8 off of a 92 exploder, and im putting it in my 87 bii.
my bii has the regular 4x4 stick and im pretty shure the exploder had push button.
im just wondering if i need it. seeing how my bii didnt come with whatever option this rearend has.
