84 BII rear hatch handle?

Does anyone know if the later model rear exterior hatch (liftgate) handle fits the 84 hatch.

The Hatch handle on mine is starting to spin around and around.

Mine did this same problem and it ended up being a very easy fix. Take off the interior hatch plastic and have someone turn the handle whil eyou watch how it works. You will notice that there is a small metal rod that is supposed to hit something but it doesnt or its on the wrong side of the latch. I put mine on the correct side, then used gorilla glue and put a bicycle tire air cap on it to lengthen it .5". Worked like a charm! Let me know if your completely lost and ill take pictures for you.

The linkage for the tailgate handle probably came off.. Same thing happened to me. The linkage fits into a hole inside the tailgate, and when connected the handle shouldn't spin. Take off the plastic cover on the inside of the tailgate and feel in there for the metal linkage. If it feels completely loose, try to reconnect it and fasten it in.

Does anyone know if the handles from later models will fit an 84. I just bought my 84 for and the handle is missing.

on my 84 and 89 the handle is exactly the same. ford didnt change them from year to year.

I wasn't sure because the only ones I could find said they fit 85 and up.
