When switching from a fuel injected v6 to a carb. v8 can I remove the high pressure pump along the frame and let the low pressure pump in the tank supply the fuel? Or will I need to get an electric pump?
I have a 1988 b2.
Fuel Pump Question
Re: Fuel Pump Question
I'm all for keeping it as simple as possible.. You wouldn't want the high pressure pump on the frame, and I would go so far as to change the rear out for a pick up only and use the manual fuel pump that bolts to the side of the engine.
Re: Fuel Pump Question
Well, I decided to go with a mechanical pump. I know I can use one from an econoline van w/ power steering from 1970-1973. Does any one have part #'s for this or any other pump that will work. Thank you.
Re: Fuel Pump Question
Check www.rockauto.com. Besides pricing, I like the setup because they usually have accompanying pics of the parts on there with part numbers etc. Nothing like establishing relationships to your parts houses locally though. An old guy at NAPA can probably rattle them off the cuff...
Re: Fuel Pump Question
That site is awesome. I found it in about 45 seconds. I was searching all day yesterday. I am going to remove the high pressure pump, leave the in-tank pump, get some new fuel lines, install the mechanical pump, and add a fuel regulator. That should work out good. Thanks for your help.
