Head unit install...

Post by onewontwo »

Okay... From the time I picked up my '88 b2 vehicle I never had a functional radio. So I went to wal-mart yesterday for a head unit, speakers, and speaker wire. I'm just looking to have some tunes when I'm working in, on, around it.

I have constant 12v to the memory, 12v when the ignition is switched, good ground... It should turn on right?... The factory plug was already cut off so I checked online for the sterio wiring diagram. The speakers were not an issue as I replaced them and ran new wire.

Here are a few things I noticed regarding the only thing I receive fron the head unit which is the blinking reset light...

-Reset blinks when key is in off position, light dimmer is turned all the way down
-Disappears once key is turned into on position or the dimmer is turned up

I plan on calling tech support of the unit manufactor, but maybe someone could help me in the time being.

Keep in mind it never had a working radio, but the voltage and ground is there where it should be.

Thanks alot to everyone on the forum, my b2 wouldn't be where it is now without your help.
