Stuck in 4 wheel drive

Post by bigollie2006 »

I have a 89 Bronco 2 and Its been stuck in 4 wheel drive for a long long time and I am getting about 9 miles a gallon and I need it fixed. I dont have the money to pay a mechanic and with the knowledge I am more than capable of fixing it myself. I beleive the motor went out that puts it in and out of 4wd and I need to know where that is located.

i am guessing that it is a electronic shift ? if it is look for a wire pair going to the transfercase. you will have two sets the first goes to the vehicle speed sensor at the rear output housing, the other will be you shift motor. check for voltage at this connector it very well may be a wiring problem. if its a shift motor you may be better off trying to get a used unit from a junk yard
