I have a 1990 and the heater core went up. How difficult is it to take the dash out to replace it? THE SHOPS WANT BETWEEN 400 TO 700 DOLLARS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Re: heater core
It should be very easy. It will take a decent amount of patients. Dashboards can sometimes be tricky to take out. Lots of hidden screws so look carefully.

no lie it is a pain in the ass !!! nothing really technical to it just need ALLOT of time and patients! there is a access plate for the heater core in the middle of the unit, so i recommend pulling out the glove box and the dash pad which has the hole above the glove box and go from there.

thanks I'm going to dive into it tomorrow. here goes nothing lol
Re: heater core
Well I took the plunge and replaced my heater core! It only took 35 minutes and was alot easier than I thought. Once I removed the glove box and carpet I was able to reach up and slide the core out and put the new one in the same way. Man I'm glad that worked because I relly did not want to take out the dash. Thanks for all your support.
Re: heater core

sweet !!! i love spending money on upgrades but hate spending it on crap keeping a truck running. sounds like you have an extra $350 to $650 to now spend on something cool for it !
