2.9L runs like crap when cold

Post by texastud1983 »

So heres the deal. I slowly noticed that me engine started running like its missing and sputtering, then dies. Once it reaches opperating temps it goes away. All my buddies laugh because my pile runs like shit. They all got big blocks and 49's and crap.
So I pulled the codes and I get a 31, EVP. So I change it, no luck. Still crappy.
So I reset the computer and pulled a code and get a 22, MAP out of range. So I change it and check all of the wiring but still no luck. I still get a #22.
So I checked all the plugs and changed the wires and still no luck.
I'm fixen to take a long drive off of a short pear with that pile.
Yall got any ideas. Its not fuel, I got good fuel pressure.

runs like crap when cold ok when warm. could be a pcv valve (resticting vacume and giving false reading to map), fuel pressure regulator (passing too much fuel when cold and when warmed up and seals swell it meters the fuel correctly), moisture in the distributor or bad distibutor pick up. or worst case senario- cracked head putting coolant into the cylinders when cold, then the head heats up the crack closes. cracks like this may not turn your oil to milk, you have to pressure test the coolant system to find this.

you asked for a few ideas......
