Most popular leaf spring swap???

Post by stevenf »

I was originally thinking of putting 63" chevy leaf springs on the back because Ive read so many good things about these springs being swapped on Toyotas. However I looked at the Bronco and I think the body mount in front of the leaf spring mount would cause problems. I then started thinking about just using the stock B2 leaf springs and fabbing shackles and blocks to get my desired 7" of lift. Are the stock springs up to the task if I were to add-a-leaf? Or are there easy, more common leaf swaps on these?

I don't know about the chevy leafs but I would not build a shackle to get too much lift.

personaly I would put together a combo pack from different leaf packs or just buy the 7" lift leaf if anyone sells that height of lift.

what are you doing for the front?

Im running a D44 up front. I was planning on getting longer coils to match the rear lift. 6" would do the trick, I can tolerate a little fender trimming....
Whats the max lift you would go with on shackles? Do F-150 coils give the front some lift?

on the shackle I wouldn't go much more then an inch or so...reason is you have to extend the shackle 2" to get 1" of lift. some people use a chevy drop shackle to lift a BII. might want to look into that.

I would probably measure everything, do your front first then match the back to the front. bottom line, you can adjust the rear alot easier then you can adjust the front.

With shackles be careful about your pinion angle! I've seen alot of guys with yotas put huge shackles on and then they burn up their pinion bearing! Superlift sells six inch springs then you could do shackles, I personally wouldn't do blocks only because you get alot of rearend hop.
