np435 bearing retainer?

Post by DBrown »

has anyone ever broken a bearing retainer on one?

I was cleaning up my np435 from my BII last night and when I cleaned off the retainer I noticed a crack all the way around the retainer next to the coller. thinking that looked a little wrong I gave it a nudge and it moved! it has actualy broken all the way around the retainer.

I am kind of stumped, I don't think there is any load on that part of the tranny other then the clutch arm riding on it. any ideas?

I got another one so I am not to upset, but I just want to make sure I don't junk that one also...I will try to post a pic when I get home tonight

i cracked mine also, i tried to stab it and left the trans hanging out about 3" from the bell housing to regrip it and it cracked. lucky you that you had an extra, i had to order the housing from bgy and get the race and seal from autozone special order. funny you brought this up i just got the parts in friday! i was looking at it pretty close and it looks like a cast piece so i will very careful putting mine back in. yours probably happened when taking it out, i would guess.
