'89 B2 fuel sending unit

Post by TJDukit82 »

Does anybody know if the fuel sending unit out of an '83-'85 B2 will fit in my '89 fuel tank. I've already made a fuel pickup for it using the original sending unit but now have no fuel gauge in the tank. The motor is the 2.8L so I don't need the high pressure fuel pump anymore. I'm just hoping that the fuel pick up and sending unit out of a carbed B2 or Ranger will fit.

if you remove the fuel pump from the unit it could work, im not sure if the opening in the tanks are the same size though.

Yeah it's the size of the opening that I am most concerned about. I made the one I have work for now but it is a rubber line running to the bottom of the tank with a piece of my old dipstick clamped to it to keep it stiff and I know eventually thats bound to fail but it will do for now, if the older tank used the same size opening that would eleviate any worries about that.
