fuel cell plumbing for anyone that cares

not sure if anyone else is using a fuel cell or has ever had the spilling problem, but I did.

just some pictures and what not of how i rerouted it all to make a "non spilling" vent setup, im sure this is the common way to do it it just took me a little longer to find it.

along with some new Trick fittings.

well, here is my fuel cell. JAZ sport fuel cell i pulled it apart awhile back cleaned it up and sprayed it with line-x.

i would have liked to get another 90 fitting but everyone was out of stock, so i settled for the straight.
started by connecting them and routing it over to my cage.


up, and then over and back down.


and the end. i would have liked to get a canister style fuel filter, but the part number i had no stores had in stock.. and i dont know a specific application that uses the canister style filter, so i just put on an inline so i had something on there at least in the meantime.

Did you use a rollover valve on the vent?

They help reduce splash into the vent and keep the fuel in the tank when you decide to wheel inverted!

yes the JAZ cell comes with a rollover valve. but unfortunatly they dont really do much for splashing, or if you are sideways. they only work if you are completely upside down.

Well even the best ideas sometimes don't do what we want.

I just went out and checked out the fuel cell in my TCoupe. Low and behold even my rollover valve will let fuel out if it splashes.

I just talked to a shop owner back in the Midwest. His comment was that all valves will splash and the way to fix that is use a block of fuel cell foam in the area under the vent. As I only have my cell mocked up I am going to add a couple of blocks of the foam to reduce splash and to keep the pick up from coming un-ported under hard acceleration or deceleration.

He also added that you can rig your own air fuel separator to your vent line.

Either way good luck and let us know when it is put to the serious test if not already.

well.. just driving around before would spill fuel out. Not anymore.. not a single drop since ive driven it.

it'll be put to the "serious" test sometime soon after i get back to NM but for the time being i drove it up onto some ledges and what not to see if anything would spill out in any direction and so far so good.... I dont plan on rolling it
